This month we’re spreading the word about the heart health benefits of California Walnuts and asking everyone to #ShareThePowerof3. Join in the celebration and you may be lucky enough to win one of our Power of 3 California Walnut kits.

California Walnuts can be used to add extra taste and texture to a variety of dishes. Add them to cereal at breakfast, enjoy as a snack at any time of day or include in salads and pasta dishes to start improving overall nutrition.

Walnuts are the only tree nut to contain a significant amount of omega-3 ALA. With around 7.4 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory disease1, looking after your heart health is a must. Our bodies cannot make omega-3 ALA so it is important to ensure we eat foods that contain it, for good heart health and normal growth and development.

The great news is that there is a very tasty way to do this. Eating a handful of smooth and creamy California Walnuts a day (30g) can help maintain normal blood cholesterol levels2 and help reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease3.

So here’s where you come in…

  • Simply share a picture of your favourite way to enjoy California Walnuts on your social media platform (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) and use #ShareThePowerof3 and #CaliforniaWalnutsUK
  • Make sure to set your post to public so we can find it
  • This could be snacking, baking, or any meals that you are using a handful of California Walnuts in – don’t forget that California Walnuts are available from most retailers – just look for product of California or product of USA on the pack
  • You can share as many different ways as possible – try and enjoy at least 3 handfuls a week and if you need any inspiration our Recipe section is packed full of simple yet delicious dishes
  • Each week (Friday 14th, Friday 21st and Friday 28th February) we will randomly select one winner from all entries who will receive a California Walnuts kit containing:
    • A California Walnuts Tote Bag
    • A California Walnuts Bento Box
    • A copy of California by Eleanor Maidment
    • Oh and some California Walnuts too!
  • We will also pick our three favourite pictures from all entries received by the 28th Each of the three entrants chosen will also receive:

Competition Rules

The Promoter is California Walnut Commission.

By entering into this competition all entrants will be deemed to have accepted, and be bound by, the following rules:

  1. Eligibility
  • The competition is open to UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) residents who are aged 18 or over, excluding employees and agents of the Promoter, as well as family and household members of the same or anyone else professionally connected with the competition. The Promoter reserves the right to request proof of identity or to verify eligibility conditions.
  1. Competitional Period
  • The competition will commence on 5th February and will end at 23:59 on the 27th February (any entries after this date and time will not be accepted).
  1. How to enter
  • Share an image showing (one of) your favourite ways to enjoy California Walnuts to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
  • Use the hashtags: #CaliforniaWalnutsUK and #ShareThePowerof3
  1. Winner Selection
  • One winner will be chosen at random each week. All weekly winners will be selected by a computer process that produces verifiably random results from all images shared publicly to either Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. Draws will take place at midday on Friday 14th February, Friday 21st February, and Friday 28th
  • Three winners will also be chosen by California Walnut Commission from all entrants received by midday on Friday.
  1. Winner Notification
  • The winners will be notified via Facebook within 3 working days of the draws taking place
  • Winners must provide their name and address via Facebook within 72 hours of notification
  • The winners may be required to:
    • Participate in related publicity and consent to use of their photographs for such purposes.
    • Acknowledge the prize via the instructions in the winning notification;
    • Provide verification details (proof of age etc.) if requested; and
    • Confirm they wish to accept the prize.
  • Failure to do this will result in the prize being forfeit and the Promoter may, at its absolute discretion, award the prize to a reserve selected at the same time as the original winner.
  1. Prizes
  • There are six prizes in total (three weekly winners, and three judges choice) each consisting of: A California Walnuts Tote Bag; a California Walnuts Bento Box; a copy of California by Eleanor Maidment; and some California Walnuts too!
  1. General
  • There will be no cash alternative and no additional or alternative prizes are available, although the Promoter reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of equal value in the event of circumstance beyond its control.
  • Prize will be sent within 28 days of winner notification
  • Numerous factors outside the control of the Promoter may interfere with the operation of the website. The Promoter does not therefore guarantee continuous, uninterrupted or secure access to the website.
  • Where a winner chooses not to accept a prize, they forfeit any and all claims to that prize.
  • The winners are responsible for any tax arising on a prize.
  • Prize winner details will be shared with our partner Ceres PR for fulfilment and will be stored until the prize has been fulfilled, or for 3 months, whichever is shorter. They will not be used for any other marketing purposes.
  • The Promoter reserves the right to cancel the prize draw at any time and without notice due to circumstances beyond its control. The Promoter is not responsible for any late, lost, misdirected, damaged or incomplete entries.
  • To the fullest extent possible in law, neither the Promoter nor agencies involved in this competition will be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever caused by matters relating to this competition.
  • The Promoter reserves the right to verify all entries and the winner, and to refuse to award a prize or withdraw prize entitlement where there are reasonable grounds to believe there has been a breach of these terms and conditions or any instructions forming part of this competition’s entry requirements or otherwise where a participant has gained unfair advantage in participating in the competition or won using fraudulent means.
  • This competition is not affiliated in any way with Facebook, Twitter or Instagram
  • Any question concerning the legal interpretation of the rules will be based on English law and the Courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction.
