California Walnut Black Bean Burgers by Healthy Living James

  • 1 can black beans rinsed and patted dry
  • 50 g California Walnuts 1/2 cup
  • 50 g gluten free oats 1/2 cup
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup/honey
  • 1 tbsp tamari
  • 1 heaped tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Pinch salt & pepper


  • Pre-heat your oven to 200C
  • Drain your black beans, rinse them and pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess liquid
  • Now to a food processor add all the ingredients above and blend. You will need to push down the edges every 10-15 seconds until the whole mix it blended
  • Now simply shape into burgers and place onto a lined baking tray with baking paper
  • Bake for 15 minutes at 200C
  • Optional: After baking you can always fry them in a pan with oil for a few minutes until extra crispy
